France, City and Countryside
30 minute audio-visual and workshops, Grades 2-12Music and narration create, with the slides, a journey back through time: the Roman amphitheater at Arles, the Bayeux tapestry, the rose window at Notre Dame, Louis XIV's palace and gardens at Versailles, D-Day gun emplacements on the beaches of Normandy. And later come the sights and sounds of France today: a 90 kilometer race through a medieval Norman town, horses lying down in Pyrenees fields, flowers tucked in doorways and gates, and wonderful French faces. Mr. Fairchild majored in French history at Wesleyan University, in Middletown, Conn. Cost $500 per day.
