"Africa has always had a powerful magnetic effect on me, perhaps because we all came from this continent back in some distant, primordial era. The Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania has yielded up the bones of our hominid ancestors, mute testimony to the fact that this region of lush woodlands and savannahs in East Africa was where our family tree first took root and flourished. From this African genesis, a web with thousands of meandering pathways may have evolved in all directions as our ancestors migrated to all corners of the Earth, leading us to where we live today... "
